McAfee ePO 4.X, 5.X ackup

Option 1

·         Save at list the last two backup.

1.       Backup the database of ePO server:

a.       Open “Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio”, log in with “SA” user or user with full control on the ePO database.
b.      Expend <Server_name> -> expend databases.
c.       Right-click ePO_<Server_Name>, select All Tasks, Backup Database.
d.      In the Database field, select the ePO_<Server_Name> to be backed up.
e.      In the Name field, type a name for the backup set (example: ePO Master Backup).
f.        In the Description field, type a description of the backup (example: ePO Full Backup).
g.       Under the Backup Type, select Database – Full.

NOTE: If this is the first time you have run a backup on the database, some options might be unavailable. After a full or differential backup, all options will be available.

h.      Enter the Destination section, if a backup set exists and is listed in the Backup to: field, select it and click Remove.
i.         Click Add.
j.        Select the File name: entry, type the full path to the backup file (example: D:\DATA\ BACKUPS\ePO.BAK), and click OK.
k.       To schedule the backup to run on a regular basis, click Schedule, click (…), then configure the backup schedule as required, and click OK.

2.       Backup those folders on ePO server:

a.       C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator \server\logs (server log files)
b.      C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\server\cache
i.      Contains cached information that ePO creates and uses, such as generated chart images. ePO will regenerate that information, if deleted.
c.       C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\server\work
i.      Contains cached information about web applications registered with Tomcat. Tomcat will regenerate that information,                  if deleted.
d.      C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\DB \SOFTWARE\
i.      All Products that have been checked into the Master Repository are located here.
e.      C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\DB \KEYSTORE\
i.      The Agent, Server, and Repository Keys that are unique to your installation are located here. Failing to restore this                         folder results in re-pushing the agent to all your systems, and checking in all of your deployable packages again.
f.        C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\APACHE2\CONF
i.      The Server configuration settings for Apache, the SSL Certificates needed to authorize the server to handle agent                          requests, and Console Certificates are located here. Failure to back up and restore this directory results in a re-                            installation of ePO to create new ones and possibly using a clean database installation

Option 2(only for virtual machines)

·         Schedule the backup procedure every week, save at list the last two.
1.       Run snapshot to the server
a.       If there two separate servers, one for ePO application and the other is SQL server, run snapshot for both servers                          and start with ePO server.
